GIVEN THE STATE OF LOCAL WEATHER THE LAST SEVEN DAYS, it doesn’t feel like much of a stretch to say that we were #blessed last weekend when Mother Nature decided to play nice and allow us to put on our 5th Annual Gumbo Smackdown. Sure, it might have been a touch chilly down at Sugar Land Town Square, but all the better to enjoy warm gumbo from a dozen of Houston’s best restaurants.
While everyone was all smiles, there was still a competition going on, and when the dust settled we had our two winners. Our judges—Sugar Land Skeeters’ pitcher Michael Nix, Sugar Land Town Square’s Corie Mott, Fort Bend Rainbow Room’s Andrea Thompson and our very own Gwendolyn Knapp—selected Fish City Grill as their Judge’s Choice champion. Last year’s Judge’s Choice winners The Rouxpourdidn’t go back to back for that award, but they didn’t walk away empty-handed in 2018. When your votes were counted up, they took home the People’s Choice award.
Did you know that Fish City Grill and The Rouxpour are both based out of Sugar Land Town Square? Talk about making the most out of home-field advantage.
